[Blog #1 of 4 part series]
As I was reflecting on a few of my learnings from the last year, something that caught my attention was how different people, situations & experiences had left their impressions on me. I realized that learning & insights can come from anywhere, be it a mundane haircut or a fun family vacation!
So I dipped into an ancient Indian text known as the Avaduta Gita: that talks about how a simple forest dweller, Avaduta, came to be the most content person, by absorbing learnings from various sources. He goes on to share the teachings from '24 Gurus'. We will talk about two of my favourites from his 24 gurus today:
Guru #1: The Honey Bee - a honey bee gathers nectar from each flower that it visits. Avaduta learned from the honey bee to capture the essence of every interaction & experience that we have. In today's world of limited attention spans, this becomes an invaluable skill! Each time we have an experience, whether in the real world or online, ask yourself "What is the essence I can take from this? How can I apply it to grow in my life?"
Guru #2: Honey Bee Catcher - Close on the heels of the Honey bee, comes the Honey Bee Catcher. All the honey collected by the bees in a hive is taken away by the honey-bee catcher. Avaduta learned from the honey bee catcher, that if we gather more than what we need we will eventually lose it! So it would be much wiser to share what we have with others (and thank the receivers for accepting what we share!).
